Day Hike - Rampart Lakes
A tough hike to pretty alpine lakes with views, waterfalls and hopefully some flowers blooming. The last mile or two looks pretty steep, so be prepared.

We'll meet at the Rachel Lake Trailhead parking lot at 8 A.M. planning to be on the trail by 8:15
Parking lot - Google Maps
The last few miles to the trailhead are on gravel road, there are some potholes, but at least last year it was fine for a sedan, and I haven't seen any reports this year indicating that has changed. I'll update if new trip reports come in saying the road is rough.
There should be plenty of parking, but those who want to carpool can arrange to meet up somewhere beforehand.
This hike will go to Rachel and Rampart lakes. I'll be using this as a conditioning hike and plan to maintain a pace of 2 to 2.5 mph, so please be sure you're comfortable with that pace over this distance and elevation before signing up. We'll take breaks as needed on the way up, particularly in the last mile or 2 as it gets pretty steep, but overall, the plan is to keep the pace up and breaks to a minimum until we reach the lakes. We'll stop at Rachel lake then continue on to Rampart Lake, with lunch at one of the two before heading back down the way we came.
