This hike is part of the Annual North Cascads Car Camp. Join us for three days of hiking in the spectacular North Cascades. Explore the unique geology of this region. We will camp two nights at Klipchuck Campground just off the North Cascades Highway. It is suggested that participants also camp Monday night due to the travel distance and early hike start time the following day. Goat Peak, Grasshopper Pass-Tatie Peak, and Pyramid Lake – see hike descriptions below. Easy hikes may be led by a second leader, such as Slate Peak, concurrently with more strenuous hikes. Variable terrain, alpine meadows, views of Silver Star Mountain and Methow Valley, and poetry by Lightning Bill at Lookout perch. Meet 8:30 a.m. at Klipchuck CG off SR20. (s8/6-8/30) Sept. 5, Wed. – Grasshopper Pass and Tatie Peak (S) (GT Washington Pass #50), NWFP, 11 mi., 1,600’ gain in; 1,000’ gain out. Moderate pace. In the Harts Pass area, this hike has wide-open big-sky meadow ridges, grand views of giant peaks and forested valleys. Meet 8:00 a.m. at Klipchuck CG off SR20. (s8/6-8/30) Sept. 6, Thu. – Pyramid Lake (M) (GT Diablo #48), NWFP, 4.5 mi., 1,550’ gain. Moderate pace. A forested trail to a discrete lake at the bottom of Pyramid Mountain. Meet at Klipchuck CG at 8:30 a.m. or Pyramid Lake trailhead at 9:30 a.m. (s8/6-8/30)
