Day Hike - Poo Poo Point via Chirico Trail

Last minute posting! Start your holiday morning early with some fresh air, exercise, and maybe a peek-a-boo view or two.

  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 4.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,650 ft

Meet at the Chiroco Trail Poo Poo Parking Lot on Issaquah Hobart Road at 7:15 am.  Leaders will be in dark blue Subaru Outback. Sunrise is at 7:30.  We will start hiking at 7:25.

Although this is a short hike, it does have some elevation gain.  Poles can be useful on the descent as it's been wet this week.  We will move at a pace one gear above moderate but not too speedy, keeping in mind some of us might need to get a bird or pie in the oven!

  • Because this is a last minute posting, you will not get an email from the leader.  This should have all the information you need and will be included in your registration acknowledgement from the club.
  • Please do not sign up for this trip if you have college students returned home or you are hosting house guests.  It is just too risky at this time due to COVID-19 rates.
  • You do not need a parking pass.  Please use caution in and near the parking lot, especially if you are headed south and need to cross traffic to turn into the lot.
  • Link here for a detailed description of the hike.
  • At the summit, we will stop for 5-10 minutes for photos, snacks, and drinks.
  • Here is a link to the weather forecast.  We should have weather in the 40s with clouds. (I am still hopeful for maybe one  view, at least!)
  • Please do you very best to wear your mask as much as possible and definitely whenever you are within 6 feet of another participant or other folks on the trail.
  • Our emergency plan will be to phone 911.  We will be near the City of Issaquah, on Tiger Mountain, and in King County. We will have cell phone service the entire time.
  • I would like to acknowledge that we will be recreating on the traditional land of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish People past and present, and honor with gratitude the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe.  Please read here to learn more about the Coast Salish peoples.
  • We will travel together as a group, enjoying each other's company, and time in the outdoors.  Your physical and emotional safety are important.  Please let me or our co-leader let me know if you feel unsafe at any time during the trip.
  • If for some reason, you cannot come at the last minute, please email me by 7:00.
  • We will not wait for latecomers, as the Chirico Trail is a very busy spot.  I'd like to get up and down before it gets crowded, and to make spots in the parking lot for hikers who are coming a bit later in the morning.
