Poo Poo Point via Chirico Trail

Day Hike - Poo Poo Point via Chirico Trail

Join the Tacoma Hiking and Backpacking Committee for a hike to Poo Poo Point using the Issaquah High School Trail. This is the less crowded, longer, and more enjoyable way to get to Poo Poo Point. We are sure to see some fall colors and possibly some paragliders take off from the point!

2 options:  1) Meet at the South Federal Way Park and Ride at 7am and we will consolidate into cars as appropriate.   2) All others meet at the Issaquah  High School at 8am.

DIRECTIONS FOR BOTH OPTIONS:     South Federal Way P&R address:  901 S 348th St., Federal Way, WA, 98003.   To get there just get off 142 Exit on I-5 and west on 348th St. for about 1 mile. Then the P&R is on your left.

Issaquah High School address:  700 2nd Ave SE, Issaquah, WA 98027.  Go on I-90 and take Exit 18, then go onto E Sunset Way towards center of Issaquah.  Turn left onto 2nd Ave SE.   Drive until you see the high school on your left. Go into the entrance, take the first right and then again a right to go into the front parking lot that is right on 2nd Ave SE.

This is a great hike on a trail for both hikers and horses although horses rarely use it.  MUCH less traveled than the other popular trail to Poo Poo Point and so much more fun.  When we get to Poo Poo Point we will just enjoy the view and have lunch or a snack (your preference!).  I hope we will see some fall colors from here.  There are often paragliders to watch which is a lot of fun.  There will be an optional hike of about 0.5 miles  total to another paraglider take off point and a different view.  On a nice day you can see Mt. Rainier from this view point.

OPTIONAL POST-HIKE STOP:  a couple good places to stop in Issaquah for a beer and meal afterwards for  all who may be interested.
