Meet at 6:00 PM in the roadside parking area just inside the Pearl Street entrance to the Park, between the tennis courts and the duck pond. No parking pass is required. There are restrooms by the duck pond.
This is a shorter version of the usual five mile loop hike of Point Defiance Park to fit it into the few hours of daylight available after work at this time of the year. Like the longer hike, we will have our meal stop at scenic Owen Beach, where on a warm day kayakers, beach scavengers, yachts, birds, ducks and a large area of Puget Sound can be viewed from our sheltered picnic table. The return from there to the cars will be along the promenade.
