This hike or backpack is part of the PCT Series. Mountaineers Members that ARE part of the PCT Series have “Leader Permission” to sign up for an event after May 14th based on their lottery trip choices. Individuals not part of the PCT Series may sign up for two PCT Series hikes or one PCT Series back pack per year, and may sign up for this activity no sooner than 10 days prior to the activity date, if space is available and at leader discretion. Any questions regarding this policy may be directed to the PCT Series Program Co-Administrators, Steve LeBrun or Chris Caviezel. ****ALERT**** This hike has been changed to a leader's choice, on/near the Pacific Crest Trail. Because of excessive snow, there will only be one hike (Sunday). This will be an exploratory hike starting near Fr 7080. We will hike south 6-7 miles south and back north. Total distance of the hike will depend on trail conditions. Bring microspikes. Hiking poles recommended if we encounter snow. A A GETTING THERE – From Maple Valley, it is estimated to be about a 50 mile drive that could take about 60 minutes. Vehicles do not need to be staged. From Hwy 410 (Enumclaw / Greenwater), Approximately 2 miles past Greenwater (just past Fire Station????) you will come to FR 70 where you will take a left. Go 10.2 miles to where the pavement ends. Continue straight 5.1 miles on now dirt FR 70 past MP 15 to dirt 7080. Turn left (N) and go 1.6 miles to the PCT and a PCT “detour” sign. (The PCT goes north from here. However, it shares FR 7080 to the south for approximately 0.4 miles.) Leave the vehicles in an area near the trail.
