Day Hike - Paradise Area Trails

Experience the most spectacular alpine scenery in Mt. Rainier National Park, when the summer crowds are gone, but the weather is still nice, on the popular Skyline Trail, stopping to take in the dramatic views at Glacier Vista and Panorama Point, our lunch stop, before returning to the cars.

Meet at 10 AM at the entrance to the Paradise Visitors Center, reached  by heading south from Puyallup on SR 161, turning left in Eatonville onto the cut-off road, left at the T junction onto SR 7, left at Elbe onto SR 706, entering Mt. Rainier National Park and continuing past the junction with the Stevens Canyon Road to the Paradise Visitor Center parking lot.  Each car entering the Park must show a National Park Pass or buy a $30 day pass.

There are two sets of restrooms in the Paradise parking lot, one in the Visitor Center and the other just east of there.  Water bottles can be filled there.  There is another indoor restroom at our lunch spot, Panorama Point.  After lunch, we will take the most direct route back to the cars.  There will be the option for a meal stop in Ashford on the way home.   Whitaker's Base Camp has a covered outdoor venue with a varied menu and ice cream available nearby.  There is also a store there selling outdoor gear, and public restrooms.
