Meet at 8 AM at the Enumclaw Ranger Station, 450 Roosevelt Ave E (SR 410), Enumclaw.

We can consolidate cars at the Enumclaw Ranger Station, where no parking pass is required.  Then we will caravan to the White River Entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park, where each car must show a National Park Pass at the entrance booth.  Then we stop to use the nearby restrooms,  before continuing to the trailhead parking lot at Sunrise Point, where there are no restroom facilities.  The hiking route starts downhill and then follows an undulating route through both flowered alpine meadows and forested areas with abundant huckleberry bushes, and past several picturesque alpine lakes .  Upper Palisade Lake, our lunch spot and turnaround point, is nestled in a sunny alpine basin with both scenic views and a swimming opportunity when the weather permits.  We will return by the same route and have the option for an ice cream stop at Wapiti Outdoors in Greenwater.
