This trip was originally posted for The Third Burroughs at Mt Rainier. The leader has changed the destination to Snoqualmie Pass  for environmental reasons: to make it a shorter drive and use less gas for the leader and most others who may be interested in signing up.

This hike will follow the WA State Phased Approach to Reopening Business and Modifying Physical Distancing and the Mountaineers advice on travel/carpool and its hiking guidelines for COVID-19 that apply on the date of this trip to include social distancing, face covering and hand sanitizing.

We will hike south on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) from the Snoqualmie Pass south trailhead over the Summit West ski area and past Beaver Lake and Lodge Lake to the west. We then traverse a steep slope overlooking the deep canyon of the South Fork Snoqualmie River.

About 3 miles from the trailhead the trail leaves the old road and descends a talus slope and crosses Rockdale Creek. After a short ascent the trail climbs and enters the picturesque Ollalie Meadows with Radio Mountain to the east. After a short ascent beyond the meadow we reach Windy Pass. This is our destination and high point at 3,800 ft. We probably have lunch here. We will return by the same route.

This hike will be led at a moderate pace (average 2 mph). A good standard of fitness and stamina is required in view of the 10 mile trip distance and 1,500 ft.elevation gain.

The map for our day trip is: GT Snoqualmie Pass Gateway #207S

All participants must bring a facecovering that covers mouth and nose, hand sanitizer plus a back pack that includes  all the 10 essentials

Full trip information will be emailed to those who sign up  once registration closes on Aug. 26 at 5pm.
