This is a magnificent wilderness beach hike. Barbara and I have done this hike over 50 times. There is a 3.5 tide late in the morning so that if the waves aren't large we can round several of the headlands rather than going up and over which we may have to do otherwise. There is lots of driving involved. I plan to spend the weekend on the Peninsula snowshoeing on Hurricane Ridge or hiking (snowshoeing?) to Olympic Hot Springs or . . . (private outing) on Saturday and hiking the beach on Sunday. Some of us will be staying at Whishkey Creek Beach (rustic accomodations); I am renting one cabin for Friday and Saturday nights. I have tentatively reserved another cabin for just Saturday night, holds 4 for under $100. As an alternative we often stay at the Bay Motel, (360) 963-2444, in Sekiu the night before the hike; around $55 per night.
