Day Hike - Notch Pass

An old CCC trail that takes us up and through Notch Pass and then down to the Quilcene River. We will go a .5 mile up the Quilcene, snow-permitting.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 9.6 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,200 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 2,400 ft
  • Pace: 2.0, no maximum

Hood Canal Ranger District Quilcene Station at 7:45 AM. You must meet here and we must get everybody into 2 vehicles. there is very little room at the trailhead. Demographic data will be sent out 2 days before the hike so that folks can self-organize carpooling to the ranger station.

There is a bridge that makes me a little nervous (I'm a 3 out of 10 when it comes to exposure), it's at least 10 feet above a creek and not perfectly flat, but it does have a handrail. I might use foot traction if it is slippery.
