  • Mileage: 9.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,664 ft

Meet at the Nason Ridge trailhead at 9am

Proceed to the junction of Hwy 207, the Lake Wenatchee Highway, and Highway 2 at Coles Corner (20 miles east of Stevens Pass, 15 miles west of Leavenworth). Turn north on 207.

Eight miles before the bridge over the Wenatchee River, turn left onto Cedar Brae Road. This is also the turnoff for Lake Wenatchee State Park. Cross the bridge over Nason Creek. In 0.2 miles turn left. You are continuing on Cedar Brae Road. If you continue straight you go to Lake Wenatchee State Park, there is a kiosk in the state park where you can purchase a daily Groomed Sno-Park permit, required for parking.

Continue 0.2 miles on Cedar Brae and then turn left into Kahler Glen Rd. Here, you'll see a sign for the Nason Ridge Trailhead pointing to the right

This is day 3 of a 3-day hiking event.  Leader will be lodging in Plain, WA.  While you may sign up for one or more hikes, lodging or camping in the area would be advised as it is a 2-3 hr drive from the Seattle area. No carpool arrangements will be facilitated by the leader.

This is a moderate 7.8 mile hike.   Starting from the Nason Ridge trailhead near Kahler Glen, we will climb up to Nason Ridge with beautiful views.  There will also be some larches in season.  After lunching, we will return to the trailhead and then make a loop through Lake Wenatchee South State Park and then back to the trailhead again.

We will go at a moderate pace with plenty of rest breaks as needed.  Bring lunch and plenty of water, sturdy hiking shoes and water shoes for stream crossings if needed. Trekking poles will be helpful.

For safety we will all hike as a group so please assess beforehand whether this distance/elevation gain/pace will suit you before registering

My style:  I consider hiking as nature therapy and love to revel in the beauty of nature with frequent stops to look at flowers, trees and views.  Picking berries and swimming in Alpine Lakes are at the top of my list.   If these sound like experiences you would enjoy, I’d love your company!

Lodging:

Leader has a cabin in Plain, WA (15 miles from Leavenworth) that participants can request to lodge in.  There are 4 separate bedrooms, most will be single, but the King room has three separate beds so can be shared.  Cabin has air conditioning and outdoor hot tub.  You are also welcome to bring a tent and sleeping bag and set up outside on the lawn.   Dining will be outdoors.  Cost is $50/per person/per night which includes the cleaning fee. You may stay 3 nights (Thurs, Fri, Sat).     Please notify leader via a separate email at the time of registration what your lodging plans are and if you wish to stay in the cabin.  Room priority will be given to those staying all 3 nights.

There are also several camping/hotel areas in the vicinity you are welcome to stay at as well.
