Day Hike - Mount Zion

Join us on a mid-week hike in search of wild Rhododendrons in bloom. We will hike at an easy pace (1.5-2.0 miles per hour) up the trail which alternates between steep sections and moderate grades. At the top, we'll follow a spur to views of Mt Townsend & the Olympics.

  • Mileage: 4.6 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,300 ft

We will meet at the trailhead.  The meeting time will be sent to hikers three days prior to the hike.  Directions to the trailhead:  Take Highway 101 north from Quilcene 1.5 miles to Lords Lake Loop Road.  Follow it for 3.5 miles and turn left at a junction near the lake.  Take a right onto FR 28 and follow it approximately 5 miles to an unmarked junction at Bon Jon Pass.  At Bon Jon Pass, stay right onto unmarked FR 2810 and after 2 miles, arrive at trailhead.

Wear a face mask to use when passing other hikers or when within 6 feet of hikers in our group.

The privy at the trailhead is currently open, but be sure to bring toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

We will stop for snacks or lunch at the top to enjoy the views, maintaining social distance, of course.

Be sure to carry clothing for the always changing mountain climate:  layers and rain gear.
