Conditioner hike for the Seattle Glacier Course.
If you would like to use this hike as your fitness test please bring a pack that is 15% of your body weight or 25 lbs (whichever is higher). Objective of this hike is to make it to the top of Mt. Si in under 2 hrs.
Required Equipment
If you are using this as your fitness test please be sure you bring a pack that is 15% of your body weight or 25 lbs (whichever is higher).
If you are just using this a conditioner hike, helmets, ice axes and harnesses are not required however for conditioning you should carry all the gear (or weight equivalent) that you will be taking on a glacier trip.
Everything else you would bring on a regular scramble is required including the 10 essentials, rain gear and extra clothes.
When wet, the trail can be muddy and slick. Please wear appropriate mountaineering boots. There will still be snow/ice for the last 1/2 mile or so. I definitely recommend bringing some kind of traction device (micro spikes, Yaktrax etc.) and some trekking poles.
