Mount Si Old Trail

Day Hike - Mount Si Old Trail

Let's work off some of that turkey with a hike up to Haystack rock via the Mt. Si Old Trail. Start at the Little Si trailhead.

  • Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 6.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,300 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 3,980 ft
  • Pace: 2.0-2.5

We will meet at the Little Si TH and be ready to hike at 9:00 a.m. I will meet you at the TH and those who would like to carpool can do so, with the goal of being at the TH in time to start hiking at 9:00.

The route will take us on the Little Si trail to Boulder Garden and then on to Old Si till we meet the main Mt. Si trail just before Haystack rock (lunch). We will not scramble up Haystack rock. We'll head back down the same way and may take the Loop Trail near the end (instead of Boulder Garden). All told it's about 7.4 miles RT, with 3,300 ft. elevation gain.

This is a strenuous hike so please be conditioned to accomplish this hike at a steady, moderate pace.  We will make brief stops for clothing adjustments and a bit longer for lunch at the turn-around point.

There is a good chance we will encounter snow/ice so it is essential that you bring microspikes (no yak traxs). Hiking poles are strongly recommended.

The leader will send out a weather update two days before the hike.  The current prediction is for rain and temps in the low 40's.
