This is a conditioning hike with priority to Olympia Alpine Scrambling students and Olympia Basic Climbing Students. Open to all beginning Feb 19. If you are an experienced scrambler/hiker and want to assist, please contact me.
Goal is to get from trailhead to top in 2.5 hours (one way). We'll go at a moderate pace, with a focus on moving efficiently.
All Olympia Scrambling students must successfully complete a conditioner prior to Snow 2 FT (May 10, 2025). You must carry a pack of around 20 pounds and reach the summit in 2.5 hours to successfully complete this scrambling conditioner.
All Olympia Climbing students must successfully complete a climb conditioner prior to March 23, 2025 (Field Trip 3). Successful completion of this trip counts toward the climb conditioner requirement. You must carry a pack that's 20 percent of your body weight or 35 pound (whichever is heavier) and reach the summit in 2.5 hours to successfully complete this climb conditioner.
Leader will bring a scale. Suggest brining water bottles to supplement weight.
Other branches scrambling and climbing -- please refer to your respective course manuals for weight and time requirements.
Details will be emailed after registration closes on February 27.
