Day Hike - Mount McCausland

Moderate hike from Smith Brook Trailhead to Mount McCausland summit. We will enjoy scenic mountain views, lake views, and fall colors! Optional side trip to Lake Valhalla depending on conditions and group preference.

We will meet at Smith Brook Trailhead at 8:30am.

From Stevens Pass, drive 6 miles east on US 2 to the Mill Creek exit. Make a U-turn at Mill Creek to get into the westbound lanes of the divided highway, and drive west 1.2 miles. Turn right (north) onto Smith Brook Road (Forest Road 67) and follow it 2.8 miles to the Smith Brook Trailhead (3,950 ft).

Moderate 6.5 mile round trip hike, will go at a moderate pace with plenty of rest breaks as needed.  Bring lunch and plenty of water and sturdy hiking shoes. Trekking poles will be helpful on Mt McCausland.

If conditions allow and the group is up for it, we may add on another mile round trip to Lake Valhalla.

For safety we will all hike as a group so please assess before hand whether this distance/elevation gain/pace will suit you before registering.

This trip is subject to the guidelines for a Phase 2 county.  All participants will be required to have a face covering ready to pull up at the trailhead, and will be asked to be familiar with and follow the Mountaineers Covid-19 guidelines for phase 2 on this trip.
