We will leave at 8 a.m. from the back of the West Olympia Top Foods (i.e. Haggen Top Food and Drug, 1313 Cooper Point Rd SW, Olympia, WA 98502) parking lot, near Pier 1 Imports. I will be driving a gray/silver Honda minivan with Thule stuff on top.
This is one of the more accessible amazing hikes and views in Washington. The first half of the hike is relatively easy, becoming steeper at the left turn to the summer trail. The views up higher are amazing.
Trekking poles are great to have along, and I can loan a pair to anyone who wants to learn to use them. When you look out from the summit, imagine coming up again this winter and sliding down the winter route - a snow-filled chute - while grinning like a maniac.
Bring the ten essentials in a light comfortable day pack. We will carpool to the trailhead. Please bring money to reimburse the driver(s) and for optional ice cream or coffee afterwards.
