In the Columbia Gorge area! See hike description at http://www.portlandhikersfieldguide.org/wiki/Mount_Defiance_from_Columbia_River_Hike This is a gut-buster of a hike but the rewards are immense, with views of Mt Hood and all peaks north. Plus the satisfaction of having climbed nearly 5000' vertical feet and summited the Columbia Gorge! Needless to say, participants will need to be in very good condition. We will be camping in the vicinity on Thursday and Friday night, linking with a Thursday hike south from the gorge to Eagle Creek/Tunnel Falls, and a Saturday hike to Dog Mountain on Saturday we may choose to go to Silver Star instead if snow-free).
