Day Hike - Mount Defiance

This is a car key exchange through hike between the Ira Spring trailhead and the Granite Lakes trailhead. Panoramic views await from the summit if weather cooperates. A swim in Thompson Lake may be in order.

  • High Point Elevation: 5,584 ft

North Bend Safeway Exit 31 6 a.m.

Elevation gain from the lower trailhead is about 5500', and from the upper trailhead about 4000'.  When you request leader permission, advise whether you prefer starting at the upper or lower trailheads, or are willing to do either, since we need some balance between the 2 groups.  Depending on the weather, this will likely be a minimum 9 hour hike.
