This is a beautiful fairly strenuous hike that gives you great views on the way up as well as when you get to the top. We will stop at Mason Lake on the way down to swim, eat, or otherwise just take in a break. The hike up can be as short as 2.5 hours if conditions are good but I'm expecting a lot of sun, and fairly warm conditions for alpine. Mt. Defiance is 5,584 ft and we start 2,200 at the TH. Please bring plenty of water, food, rain jacket if rain is forecast, swim suit if you plan on swimming, and trekking poles are helpful, especially on the decent. If forecast, lightning will cancel this hike. This hike allows dogs. We'll meet at the P&R; across from the transit center on Newport Rd near the restroom.
