10:30 AM at Nisqually National Wildlife Reserve Parking Lot

This outing combines two short and easy hikes: the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge and the Mima Mounds Natural Area. We will spend a couple of hours at Nisqually and then head south to the Mima Mound Natural Area, where we will spend a couple of hours. These are both easy hikes. easy terrain, essentially no elevation gain, and short and the pace will be slow. Bring binoculars, appropriate clothing, including rain gear, and lunch. Pho in Lakewood area after the hike for those interested.

Permits: For Nisqually: "Daily fee is $3.00 per four adults. An Interagency Annual Pass (old Golden Eagle), Senior Pass (old Golden Age), or Access Pass, Federal Duck Stamp, or an Annual Refuge Pass will admit the pass holder and 3 additional adults (over age 16). Children 16 and under enter free. Each of these passes are available for purchase at the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge Administration Office and Visitor Center. All proceeds from entrance fees and passes go back into Nisqually NWR programs."
