After cresting Hemlock Pass and a moderate descent, the bright water of Melakwa Lake reflects the craggy peaks of Chair and Kaleetan that ring the lake. Please bring the 10 Essential System, do not wear cotton clothing, and have appropriate footwear, i.e. no tennis shoes, trail runners, or FiveFingers®. A Northwest Forest Pass or National Forest Recreation Day Pass is required to park at the trailhead. The pace for this hike will be ~2mph.
