Day Hike - McLane Creek Nature Trail

This family hike will explore the upper trail at McLane on a search for mushrooms of all types. NO EATING ALLOWED, but lots of fun discoveries. We will see how many diverse types we can find as we wander through this corner of Capital Forest.

10:00am at the upper McLane Parking Lot.  

Discover Pass required.

 

This trip is a family outing and priority will be given to kids and adults accompanied by kids.

We will wander the woods together and gather and identify as many mushrooms as we want and then do some mushroom craft activities.

Everyone is encouraged to wear a funny animal or plant hat or other costuming!

After mushroom gathering, families can go to the pond loop and take the 1.5 mile trip.  This is optional.

Required Equipment

Kids need Kid essentials: whistle and ID, backpack with water, spare food, and Rain and cold weather gear.  Remember to bring passport.

Mushroom guides if available. Leader has guides to share.

Each person should bring a small collecting bucket.  A plastic milk jug with the top cut off makes a good collecting bucket. (can attach with rope or belt.)

Bring cameras if interested.
