Mazama Ridge is one of the best places in Mt. Rainier National Park to photograph vivid fall color. The foreground for your pictures will be blazing red, orange, yellow and purple tones of wild blue berries, mountain ash, and various meadow flowers that have gone to seed. All levels of photographic ability are welcome and some field instruction will be available for begginers. At approximately 8AM, everyone will start hiking at a moderate pace from Reflection Lakes up to Mazama Ridge with ever expanding views of Mt. Rainier and the Tatoosh Range. We will take frequent stops to take pictures. The primary purpose of this hike is photography but we will also hope to enjoy each moment for its own sake. This area is well away from the congested trails closer to Paradise and offers similar if not better scenery. Toward Evening there will be an optional trip to the Typso Lake area to catch the evening light. Additional Trip options include the following: (1) For the early birds (not required) we will start this trip as the sun rises and take pictures of Reflection Lakes(sunrise is at 7:10 AM). Non-members can sign up online as a guest. Please contact Erwin Buske on 425-919-3083 at ErwinBuske@Comcast.net if you have any questions.
