  • Mileage: 5.4 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 600 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 269 ft
  • Pace: 2.5

We'll meet shortly before 6pm for a 6pm launch in the public parking area at Matthews Beach along Lake Washington.

Thornton Creek drains Seattle's largest watershed and Meadowbrook Pond is one of the crown jewels in our urban waterscape.  This night hike explores the lower portion to Matthews Beach (source:  Seattle Walks, Hike 11) while another hike explores the upper portion from Northgate Mall (source: Seattle Stairway Walks).

This second year of urban adventures in the dusk and dark aims to introduce day hikers to urban and natural features that may only be experienced after sunset. A basic level of fitness is expected but we support each other if the way becomes difficult.

Safety is first and all hikers are expected to  wear/carry headlamps or flashlights with clothing and footwear appropriate for both sidewalks and muddy trails. Leaders carry flashing light wands to safely cross city streets.
