MARMOT PASS ONLY - NOT BUCKHORN. Meet at  Quilcene Ranger Station at 9:45am, then we'll consolidate for drive to Upper Big Quilcene trailhead. Earlier meetings may be arranged at Poulsbo Church of the Nazarene Park and Ride lot (9:00am) or Bainbridge Ferry Terminal (8:30am) for anyone who wants to walk on the 7:55am boat from Seattle.

This is an early-season attempt to beat the crowds to one of the best hikes in the Pacific Northwest, taking advantage of our spate of unseasonably warm weather. Recent trip reports indicate substantial melt-out with a good boot path to the pass and only a moderate number of blow-downs to negotiate,  but conditions may change. Moderate pace. Micro-spikes or equivalent recommended but hopefully will not be  necessary. I don't expect we will attempt Buckhorn which will surely still be snowed in, but we may wander a bit up Boulder Ridge before descending if folks are so inclined.
