Mini-conditioning is the goal of this series of ten Feb-Mar morning hikes. This is your opportunity to organize your morning, your gear and practice getting your prepared-self to the trailhead. This is not a beginner hike series. The expectation is that you are a seasoned hiker in adequate condition; except, like me, you haven’t done much hiking since last year. Hikes in this series are 3-7 miles and 500’-1500’ elevation gain with a target 1.75-2mph moving pace. The distance and/or gain progresses with each hike. If you’re a lot slower or faster than the stated pace, these hikes are not for you.
- Highly recommended: Examine the GPS track included in each hike to understand the profile of the hike. Carpooling: I will not suggest ways to carpool; instead, leave it up to you to email the roster and arrange, as needed.
- About this hike: Hike through a mature second growth forest of moss-laden bigleaf maple, cedar, western hemlock, and a few Douglas-fir to an overlook with a view to the south featuring Mount Rainier in the distance. NOAA weather forecast https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/margarets-way
