Day Hike - Margaret's Way

Join the Tacoma Singles Activities Committee for a moderate 5.5 mile round-trip hike through the lush trees up the west side of Squak Mountain. We will make a short side trip to Debbie's View lookout to view Mt. Rainier if the weather cooperates. Singles are encouraged to participate in this hike, but all are welcome!

For those coming from the South Sound, we'll meet at 8:30 a.m. at the S Federal Way Park & Ride (901 S 348th St, Federal Way) to carpool to the trailhead. We'll leave the park & ride at 8:45 a.m. to arrive at the Margaret's Way trailhead parking lot (190th Ave SE, Issaquah) by 9:30 a.m. Please let me know if you will be meeting at the park & ride or at the trailhead. There should be enough room for parking, however the lot at the trailhead is fairly small so carpooling is encouraged!

 No parking pass is required at the trailhead. 

The incline of this hike starts right away and doesn't level out for a while so we'll start out at an easy pace to get warmed up. There are several lookout spots along the first half of the hike that we can stop at if there is group interest. The trail levels out in the middle before a long set of switchbacks leads up to the top. We'll plan on taking the short side trip to Debbie's View for a break and hopefully the weather will cooperate and give us some nice scenery. The trail may be a bit muddy in some spots, so gaiters and hiking poles may be a good idea depending on how rainy it is leading up to the trip. Afterward we can stop at Jay Berry's Café just down the road from the trailhead for some lunch.

You may want to consider bringing gaiters for mud and trekking poles for navigating potential mud or if you have knee issues.
