Day Hike - Mailbox Peak

Dusk patrol challenging evening hike. Be the ultimate post officer who goes uphill both ways.

  • Very Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 11.2 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,100 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2.5 mph

Meet in the lower parking lot outside the gate at 5:30pm. Vault toilets are in the upper parking lot. Please note the gate closes at 8pm and it is important you park in the lower lot.

Another PacNW classic and wonderful challenge. Our plan is to decide as a group if we want to start on new trail or old trail given participant's personal goals then catch the sunset at the summit. Next we will make our way down the new trail in the duck/dark. Light source required along with appropriate 10 essentials for a day/night hike. Any other fun ways to add brightness, illumination, and your own personal sunshine encouraged.  Doggos allowed but please contact me.

Option #1: Up Old, Down New

Option #2: New Out & Back

Since this is a challenging hike, this will require leader's permission. Please let me know: What recent difficult hikes/activities have you done in 2022? What is your goal for this hike?

If this will be your first time up to Mailbox, you are very welcome to join us and please still reach out with leader's permission.

An additional email will be sent out 48-24 hours before trip. Please check spam.
