Meet at 6:15 am at the 512 Park & Ride in Tacoma. Departure time will be 6:30 am. Expect about an hour and a half drive to the trailhead.
Join me for a day trip up the Lower South Fork Skokomish River to check out the geology and some small waterfalls along the way. Our goal will be a bluff overlook of the river just beyond the old location of Camp Comfort. For an extra challenge, dust off your overnight pack and start your early season backpack conditioning off with me. This area is new to me so bring your sense of adventure and preparedness for blowdowns and mud.
This hike is one of several in a series called Weekend Waterfalls between now and April. We will learn some interesting tidbits of information about the geology of the immediate area we are hiking in while viewing waterfalls during the peak season when water is plentiful. These trips are perfect for day hikers or backpackers looking to increase their distance or conditioning during the offseason. All levels of day hikers and backpackers welcome.
Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass required for drivers.
