Parking Pass: Northwest Forest Pass

We will meet at the trailhead at 8:30 am to ensure parking.

Let's carpool if we can.  Please make sure your driving preferences  are up to date.

From Hoodsport, drive travel north on Hwy 101 for 14 miles. Make a left onto Hamma Hamma River Road at milepost 318. Continue for 7.5 paved miles to the trailhead, which can accommodate about 30 cars.

A privy is available at the trailhead.

This is an extremely  popular hike.  Expect lots of company (two and four legged) along the way.

The trail is wet and muddy in some places.  Waterproof boots are recommended. Trail reports indicate there are a few blowdowns that we may have to navigate around or climb over.   Bring bug repellent.

Toilets at the lake are locked.  Be prepared to practice Leave No Trace (LTN) principles.

The pace will be slow and relaxed.   If you are a faster hiker, I ask that you please stay with the group.  We will take plenty of breaks along the way.

Leader's Permission Required-  This is so I can make sure we have enough drivers.

Goals for the trip:

1. Be Safe

2. Have Fun

3. Learn Something (Have a hiking/backpacking question? Just ask!)

My expectations for participants:

1. Stay with the group.

2. Carry water & snacks.

3. Be kind and respectful of others.

4. Practice LTN Principles.

My style:

1. I tend to have a more casual leadership style.  I enjoy getting to know participants and helping them reach their goals.

2. If I don't respond to your e-mail right away, it's because I'm out hiking/backpacking, driving my children to their various activities, or thinking of the best way to respond.  I will do my best to get back to you within a day.

I hope to see you on the trail!
