Meet at trailhead at 1000
If interested in carpooling, meet at the park and ride on Viking in Poulsbo at 0900 -- let me know if you are interested in car pooling.
Directions to trailhead: Hwy 101 to Penny Creek Road (south of the Quilcene Ranger Station). After 1.5 miles, bear left onto Big QuilceneRiver Road (Forest Road 27). Drive 3 miles, coming to a junction. Continue right on FR 27 and after 0.4 miles, turn left onto FR 27-080. Follow this narrow, maintained dirt road to the end (about 0.5 miles) and you are at the trailhead.
Pleasant, forested hike -- much of it along the Big Quilcene river.
Minimal elevation gain.
Toilet at the trailhead.
Need I say: Be prepared for rain.
NW Forest Pass required for each vehicle. (This is a recreation pass required on many federal public lands; your Discover Pass is of no value here.)
