Little St. Helens

Day Hike - Little St. Helens

Day Hike to Little St. Helens on the Hansen Ridge Trail on Friday the 6th. Little St. Helens is a little known peak to the west of Humpback Mt. We are now seeing many wild flowers in bloom and hope to see a plentiful amount of Bear Grass.

We will meet at the Hansen Ridge Trailhead at 8:30.  For those who need to carpool we can meet at the Tibbetts Park & Ride at 7:45 on Friday morning.  We will want to be geared up and ready to go very close to our 8:30 trailhead time.  Directions will follow to the trailhead and to Tibbett's.  Anyone who needs to carpool should let me know a few days before the hike.  A Northwest Forrest Pass is needed for this trail.

This is a wonderful hike at this time of the year and the weather is forecast to have sun and clouds with a temperature of 78 degrees.  Bear grass is noted to be plentiful on the hike and I am hoping to see an abundance of it.  Please bring your 10 essentials along with a liter and a half to 2 liters of water.  Also please bring insect repellent as insects have been noted on other peaks.   We will have stops as needed for hydration and snacks with lunch at the top.  There are views of all the surrounding peaks and Rainier if the clouds co-operate.
