We will hike at social pace (can talk and hike) as we climb to a nice peak viewpoint along the sides of BIG Si. We will make a few stops going up and down for clothing adjustments, snacks, and lunch break. Be aware of some important prep habits for day hikes which help everyone have a good time.
Remember to avoid wearing cotton clothing, including jeans. It may be sunny on our hike but weather can change quickly in the mountains. Trails can get muddy and/or dusty at times, so if you carpool or not, bring a change of footwear and/or maybe a bag for muddy boots too.
Bring snack foods for the hike, and a lunch for the mid-point of the day. Also, bring at least two liters/quarts of water and drink water regularly the day before the hike to be well hydrated before we begin. Have something warm(er) to put on at lunchtime, such as a fleece jacket or a wool shirt. Gloves and a stocking cap of some kind will help keep you comfortable when hiking or stopped for a break. And, even if the weather looks clear, bring a lightweight rain jacket or poncho; it doesn’t have to be fancy, just waterproof.
