Join us for an beautiful winter hike to Little Mashel Falls along the Bud Blancher Trail on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 10am.

This will be a mentored hike for prospective Hike Leader, Leslie Edwards. We will also be accompanied by Tacoma Hike Leader/Mentor Lisa Elliott who is an experienced outdoors enthusiast and very knowledgeable about the local region.

We will  meet at the Bud Blancher Trailhead in Eatonville by 10 am.

Following introductions and a review of the plans, we will begin our hike along an easy, flat trail with views of the Mashel River at an approx. pace of 2.0-2.5.  We will take a few breaks along the way to enjoy the landscape, hydrate, and other necessities.

Upon nearing the falls, the trail will begin to increase in elevation. This section of the trails can sometimes be slippery due to spray from the falls, mosses, mud, or, depending on weather, ice. Our pace may slow slightly at this point, in accordance with the needs of the group.

We will make our way up to the lower, middle, and upper falls, provided conditions are suitable.  Each of these falls is unique and beautiful, which makes this a very special hike. Take a moment to appreciate the sounds and sights!

We will stop for lunch before heading back to the Bud Blancher trailhead along the same path.

Note: This hike can be wet or icy, depending on winter weather conditions. In addition to the 10 Essentials, please be prepared with appropriate hiking boots, rain gear, warm layers, hiking poles, and micro spikes.

Micro spikes may be needed if there is ice on the trail!

We will meet at the Bud Blancher Trailhead Parking Lot (480 Weyerhaeuser Rd S, in Eatonville) at 10am on Sat. 12/13.

Please arrive early to gear up.

After brief introductions and review of the itinerary, we should be on the trail no later than 10:15am.

NOTE: This is NOT the Pack Forest Trailhead.
