Day Hike - Lake Quinault Loop Trail

Come join us for a day in the rainforest! We will do a 2-4 mile hike through a cedar bog filled with huckleberries, have a picnic by Lake Quinault, and get to see the worlds largest Sitka Spruce. This activity will be great for kids big enough to hike 2-4 miles on their own, OR kids young enough to be comfortably carried for that distance. It will be a casual, berry eating pace with lots of stops during the day, and it will be an all day event.

  • Mileage: 4.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 500 ft

This is a family hike with priority given to adults with children. The goal is really to have a fun hike through the rainforest and get to know this amazing ecosystem. There are multiple loop trails so we can determine as we go how far the group is interested in hiking, so if we have smaller kids or especially energetic kids we can be very flexible with the afternoon. It is about a 2 hour drive from Olympia, so we will likely eat dinner near Lake Quinault before we all drive home.

We will meet in West Olympia at 9 am to carpool to Lake Quinault. For people meeting us at the trailhead we'll be at Lake Quinault at 11:30 where we'll picnic lunch together before hitting the trail. Specific directions will be given in a pre-hike email.
