Arrive at Lake O'Hara parking lot and check in 30-45 minutes prior to your reserved bus time.

Photo/nature-oriented hikes, daily RT Lake O'Hara bus.   Members only, with strong hiking experience.  Leader permission requests* and registration priority from photographers 3/25 - 4/17.   Leader permission requests* accepted from all others beginning 4/18.  * Note:  please use leader permission link.  Leader has limited access to email during 4/16-22 while traveling).

Before contacting trip leader, be sure to review all trip details (leader notes, route/place info, links) to ensure your interests are compatible with trip expectations.

Leisurely to moderate pace group hikes, with 20-minute lunch and opportunities for short to extended photo/nature stops.  If you're looking for a faster paced hike or solo hiking, please consider joining a trip that better matches your expectations.

Day hikes (trail mileages and elev changes to follow), choice of 1 or 2 hikes each day:    Lake Oesa, Opabin Plateau, McArthur Pass/Odaray, Schaefer/McArthur Lake, or Alpine Circuit depending on conditions.   Up to 8 miles and 1000-1500' gain daily.  Trekking poles and microspikes recommended.  Bear spray required for each participant.

Enjoy nature photography and subalpine to alpine natural history wonders at the most spectacular scenic backcountry area in the Canadian Rockies during fall color. Views range from close up to panoramic views of mountains, glaciers, dramatic rock forms, lakes and tarns, waterfalls, meadows, cascading streams, golden alpine larch, birds and other wildlife (pikas to larger species). Expect abundance of botanical attractions - mushrooms, lichens, mosses, fall color transformations of foliage and larches. You may even see a wolverine in one of the Canadian Rockies' best areas for sightings. Be prepared for a light snowfall to enhance the stunning scenery.

Your trip cost will include 2 day bus trip fees for daily transportation between parking lot and  Lake O'Hara.   Your trip registration is not firm until you provide leader with a copy of your Lake O'Hara bus reservation for both days September 20-21.

Parks Canada annual entrance permit required for each person (purchase at park/camp entrance booth or park visitor center), is participant responsibility, and not included in trip fee. 

Participants are responsible for reserving own front-country accommodations for nights prior to and during daily Lake O'Hara bus trips:    B&B/motel, or NP camping (Yoho NP, Banff NP-Lk Louise or Banff townsite).

To extend your visit to Lake O'Hara, consider registering for either the 3 day hut-based  trip September 23-25 or   September 26-27 daily bus trip.   Separate trip registrations are available for these trips.  For the extended 1-2 day trips, participants will need to reserve/pay online (4/23 7-8 PT) for each day bus.
