Meet at 9 AM at the Highlander Restaurant, 30319 WA-707, Ashford, WA.

From the Highlander Restaurant, we will caravan to the trailhead, involving heading east on SR 706 through the Nisqually Entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park, where each car needs to show a National Park Pass and matching driver's license.  Then we turn left on the West Side Road and drive to where it is gated, where we start our hike.

We will hike 3.8 miles up the continuation of the road to where the Marine Memorial is located at Round Pass, and then hike an additional .8 mile on a trail to Lake George, our lunch stop.  If the weather is conducive to it, we will allow time there to swim in the lake before returning by the same route.  We will have the option to stop at a restaurant during the drive home.  Possibilities include the Highlander Restaurant, the Copper Creek Inn and the Wildberry Restaurant, all in Ashford.  Trip Advisor rates the Wildberry highest, with 4.5 stars.  I have heard good comments about it, but have never eaten there.  The Copper Creek Inn is rated #2, with four stars.  The Highlander is rated #6 with three stars.
