8:30 AM at 65th Str Park n Ride
Come join our Social Paced group hike to a most impressive snow ringed Alpine lake. Some snow on the trail over the last 1/2 mile or so, but very manageable. Bring treking poles if your balance is not so great. Traction devices are useful, but not absolutely required. I always bring mine. Lake is 80 percent snow covered, and bridge is melted out to provide us a nice place to view the lake. Bring a sit pad for the snow if you do not wish to climb down to the bridge.....We will cross an area devestated by an avalanche this past January where a 13 yr old girl was killed. Trees snapped like twigs, all around...Carpooling matchups available on the website starting Thursday morning. If you do not have internet access, make sure you call the clubhouse Thursday to find out who you were matched up with. They are not open Friday to give you this info over the phone. We will try to do some further carpooling consolidation at the park n ride. Take I-5 North from downtown Seattle and get off at Ravena. Turn left at the end of the ramp, and continue North along side I-5. Park in the North lot under the freeway, across from the coffee stand. I have a Blue Chevy S-10 Pickup truck. This is also known as the Green lake park n ride. NW forest parking permit required per car. If you prefer to meet at the Verlot Ranger station, please email me that this is what you will be doing. The rest of the group will meet you at about 9:45 am. Verlot ranger station opens at 8am if you need a parking permit For pictures of this hike last Sunday, go to NWhikers.net and click on trip reports.
