Labyrinth Mountain

Day Hike - Labyrinth Mountain

Hike up a steep trail to beautiful Minotaur Lake, with views down to equally lovely Theseus Lake and up to Labyrinth Mountain. This trip is being done only in conjunction with the Heather Lake Backpack on 6/25.

  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 7.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,000 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 5,580 ft
  • Pace: 1-2 mph

We will caravan together from the Heather Lake TH, following the Heather Lake Backpack trip 13.5 miles to the Labyrinth Mountain/Minotaur Lake TH--Friday late morning.  Upon completion we will caravan together back to the Coles Corner original meeting spot.  Note Forest Service Road 67 via Smith Brook is still under snow and not passable as of this writing.

This trip must be done in conjunction with the 6/25 overnight to Heather Lake, per Mountaineers' Covid-19 protocol. Please register for both.  The trail to Minotaur Lake is steep, may have blown down trees to crawl around and may still have a little snow.  The trail is mercifully short (1.75 miles) and the lakes spectacular and worth the effort.  Folks with proper experience may have the option to continue up the boot path past the lakes higher up toward Labyrinth Mountain--depending on the conditions.  Please contact leader and get permission for the Heather Lake trip first before signing up for this add-on bonus trip.  Thanks,  Rob
