Starting from Hogan Park at Russell Road we will travel at a moderate pace following the Frog Loop Trail. This is part of the Kent Valley Loop Trails system.

Our loop will include Riverview Park and some quite new sections of trail. It's all paved and flat. The route takes in sections of the Green River Trail, Puget Power Trail and Interurban Trial with some interesting sights along the way including river levy and salmon improvements, a bald eagles nest, wetlands improvements, a nature preserve, new housing and retail developments, a major bridge building project, a golf course and the oldest surviving homestead in Kent.

I plan that we will stop for lunch about half-way at Kent Station in the downtown area where there are some chair and tables to sit out at, a Panera's for any snacks or coffee you may need if you do not pack a meal and restrooms close by. Please note that there is no shelter where we meet or anywhere along the trail. So at this time of year having good waterproof gear, gloves and a warm layer for when we rest along with the other 10 essentials is important.

I plan to lead the hike at a moderate to brisk pace of approximately 2.5 mph average moving speed in view the flat terrain and  because almost all the trails we will take are paved.  As it's 10 mile loop a good level or fitness and stamina is required. No map is required for this trip. Kent parks and trails maps will be provided to anyone who might like one.

COVID GUIDELINES:

This hike will follow the Healthy Washington Phase and the Mountaineers hiking guidelines for COVID-19 that apply on the date of this trip.

Full trip details will be emailed soon after registration closes at 5pm on May 12.
