Kamikaze (Teneriffe) Falls

Day Hike - Kamikaze (Teneriffe) Falls

Enjoy the Teneriffe Falls hike as a loop. This will be a fun moderate morning hike to a beautiful waterfall. Instead of ascending to the falls on the popular Teneriffe Falls trail we will hike up the Mt Teneriffe trail, take a connecter trail over to the falls and make it a loop by returning down the Teneriffe Falls trail back to the trailhead. See leader notes below.

COVID-19: Learn about our most up-to-date guidance for participants and leaders on our COVID-19 Response page. All participants and leaders must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct before participating in this Mountaineers activity.

Teneriffe Parking Lot       8am   Discover Pass Required

Take Exit 32 off of I-90 near North Bend. Turn left, crossing over I-90, and follow 468th Ave NE to SE North Bend Way and turn left.  Turn right onto SE Mount Si Road. After crossing the bridge across the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River, continue approximately 3 miles to the large paved parking area on the left.  You will be passing by the Little Si and Mt Si parking lots on the way.

COVID -19   Following the Mountaineer’s protocol all hikers are required to have face masks and hand sanitizer.  We will wear masks when at the trailhead, stopping on the trail and when passing other hikers or being passed.  Also, we need to social distance at 6 feet the best that we can and all are encouraged to wear masks as much as possible.

The Mountaineers do not recommend carpooling with anyone outside your household at this time.

ROUTE:  We will hike the short connector trail out of the parking lot up to the Mt Teneriffe Trail and then follow it up past the Talus Loop junction where we will come to an unmarked junction which is the Teneriffe Falls Connector trail.  We will take this trail to the falls and then make it a loop hike by descending back down the Teneriffe Falls trail through the talus field back to the trailhead.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a very short section on the Teneriffe Falls Connector trail where the trail becomes very rugged (lots of roots, rocks, a few logs to step over and it’s even a little difficult to follow in a couple places).  But it’s entirely passable and this short section is no longer than a quarter of a mile maximum.  It’s not dangerous, it’s not a scramble, there is no bushwhacking involved and there is no exposure.  Please be sure you’re okay with hiking on a beat up trail like this for a very short distance before registering.

The pace will be moderate at 2 mph, taking minimal breaks as needed and keeping the group together.

Micro-spikes may be required depending on current trail conditions at the time.  I’ll send an email the day before the hike with expected weather and trail conditions.

Being that this is a waterfall and mostly forested hike it will be a go even if intermittent light rain and drizzle but will be rescheduled if the weather becomes extreme.
