Larch trees in this region come into peak much later in the month than most other places. The trees should be at peak color for this hike, based on trip reports from previous years. This hike will offer views of the eastern Teanaway region and to Mt. Rainier on a clear day.

We will hike up Teanaway Ridge to the summit of Iron Bear, then follow the ridge to the summit of Jester Mountain, which may involve a minor boot path or even off-trail hiking in places.

Be prepared for potential brief off-trail hiking, and possible snow or ice on the trail depending on conditions. At this time of year, packing microspikes is always suggested.

The drive between the freeway and trailhead should be very pretty, and taking a short side trip to Liberty townsite on the way home is recommended. Fall colors are gorgeous in this area!
