9:30 AM at Skykomish Ranger Station (Hwy 2, Exit 50)
Leader Notes: Iron Goat Trail Interpretive Hike (E) (Forest Service Map) 4-6 mi., min gain. This is coordinated with VOW for wildflowers and history. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at Skykomish RS (east of town of Skykomish) on Hwy 2 to drive to the TH. NW Forest Pass required to park at trailhead. We expect to see lots of beautiful wildflowers in bloom, and hope to see Calypso Orchids, the elusive Yellow Coralroot and a rare Botrychium species. We'll also see remnants of the old railroad, tunnels, collapsed snow sheds, and artifacts from the people who used to live and work on the railroad. Leaders Jim & Diane Vanden Brook, 425-844-1539.
