Meet 10:00 am at the Scenic Iron Goat Interpretive site.  It is just west of Stevens Pass, just off US 2.  There is a red caboose in the parking area.

This is a history hike, which follows the bed of the Great Northern Railroad.  We go to the now  mostly vanished Wellington and the site of a famous disaster, and then back to the cars.  We climb about 700 feet at the beginning until we reach the actual bed.  The route then climbs a very gentle grade.   Interpretive signs along the way explain about the challenges of trains crossing the pass in winter.
