Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Skykomish Ranger Station (east of the town of Skykomish) on Highway 2 (near milepost 50) to drive to the Trailhead.
Iron Goat Trail Interpretive Hike (E) (Forest Service Map) 4-6 mi., min gain. We will be starting from the Martin Creek Trailhead and expect to see lots of beautiful wildflowers in bloom including Calypso Orchids, the elusive Yellow Coralroot and a rare Botrychium species. We'll also see remnants of the old railroad, tunnels, collapsed snow sheds, and artifacts from the people who used to live and work on the railroad. We'll have lunch on the trail and expect to be back at the trailhead by 4:00 p.m.
Bring lunch, rain gear and sun protection.
