8:00 AM at Tibbets Park n Ride
Come join us on a social paced hike (talk and breath at the same time) to a truely beautiful Alpine Lake which is almost melted out. We will hike out in the open for a bit as we pass the Bandera Cutoff, so bring the sun screen. The Bear Grass is in full bloom. You have to see it to believe it. Trail is free of snow to the ridge at 4300 feet. We will only see some patchy snow in the forest leading to the lake, so don't worry. We will then proceed to the rocks which make an excellent place to soak up the sun and feed your soul on the views. Sign up for car pooling, and meet at the park n ride for further consolidation. Take I-90 east from seattle to exit 15. Turn right at the end of the ramp. Pass a burger king heading south. Turn left at the second set of stop lights (Newport Way). This will be at the South end of the parking structure (under construction on your left). After turning left, turn right at the first chance you get, into the Tibbetts park n ride. There is a baseball field there, and usually a port a potty. I will be in the blue chevy S10 pickup truck. See you there. If you decide not to meet there and go to the trailhead, you MUST EMAIL ME that this is what you want to do. We should be there to meet you between 8:45 and 9:00 am. NW forest Parking permit required per car. Get it before Saturday!
