*****Please note this is a Family Activities Hike, adults must bring a child with them in order to participate*****. This is a great early summer hike that offers great views, wildflowers, and a beautiful gem lake in the forest looking out to a full view of Bandera Mountain on the other side. The hike will be at a 8-12 year old pace (for both girls and boys), moderately challenging for children of this age, but well within the reach of children with some similar hiking experience. We will take a leisurely pace, stopping frequently for breaks, to observe the natural world, and to make sure this is a fun and rewarding experience for the kids. Please note, adults must bring a child with them on this hike in order to participate. The trail condition is excellent and starts out for the first mile as a winding road that has converted into more of a trail, passes a waterfall, then a recently constructed trail gradually switch backs part way up Bandera Mountain to open views and a small pass/overlook, and then descends to our destination Mason Lake.
