Lake Ingalls

Day Hike - Lake Ingalls

Come with me to see the beautiful, amazing Larches! These trees are one of the few conifers to change color to a gorgeous gold in October and then loose its needles yearly.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 7.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,500 ft
  • Pace: 2 mph

I will already be staying in the Cle Elum WA area for a few days so I will meet all at 8am the Beverly Campground, NF-9737, Cle Elum, WA 98922 (put this in Google), a site about 20 min away from the trailhead.  This is a very popular fall hike due to the beautiful golden larches so we have to start early.  This site is about 2 to 2.5  hours from Seattle or Tacoma area.  At the campground we will consolidate into as few of  cars as possible since the trailhead parking site is very small and then drive together to the trailhead.

Lastly since I will be staying overnight close to the hike area, I would look to hike participants to arrange carpooling and meeting sites on their own.

Expect chilly weather, poles and spikes are likely to be required. While we will be hiking at a moderate pace allowing time for photos, please make sure you are comfortable with the distance and elevation gain. You should have hiked a similar type of trail recently. More information to be sent via email to the participants prior to the hike.

NOTE:  Since October weather is hard to predict, I may may shorten the hike or change to a hike closer to Seattle/Tacoma area  if the is weather predicted to be bad.  I may shorten the hike just to get to the larches or I may change it to a generally good, conditioning hike closer to Seattle/Tacoma.  I will try to make this decision prior to the hike registration closing date/time and send out an email.  I am OK if there are cancellations if I change the hike; I would fully understand. The hike as listed requires a long drive to then hike in not so great weather.
